PTO Co-Presidents (2)

The co-Presidents act as a liaison between the school and the parent community. Oversees and manages the Boar and all PTO activities. Lead monthly meetings of the Board and meeting with Principal Mann two times a month.

Responsible for the PTO weekly newsletter, which disseminates information to the larger Day community.

Website / Social Media (2)

Maintain PTO website, making sure it is kept up to date with calendar items and timely informational posts. Send out information across Day social media channels to notify Day parents of events and important school information.


School Event Photographer

Attend and photograph several community building events. Assist Principal Mann with sending photos out to her twitter feed. Make photos available to the PTO Board and the greater Day community.

Mystery Dinner Committee (6)

Responsible for organizing a progressive dinner for parents only, including securing hosts, developing theme, managing guests lists, and providing assistance to appetizer/dessert hosts. Significant (but fun) commitment between October - January.

Work with the Day Diversity Club to plan for a PTO sponsored community event we hold in Boston to bring together METCO and Newton families. This is a one-time event in May and will require a moderate commitment leading up to the event.

Work with the Buildings and Grounds department at Day to coordinate the annual Newton Serves project at Day. Coordinate with the City-wide Newton Serves committee to sign up volunteers and publicize the event.

Moms just want to have fun! Responsible for organizing one or more Mom's Night Out events - a fun way to get to know more Day parents!

Dads need a Night Out too! Responsible for planning one or more Dad's Night Out events.


Library Gift Committee (3)

Working with Ms. Lightfoot to fund library book gifts during the year.


School Beautification Committee (4)

Work with school maintenance and PTO leaders to determine what items the PTO should purchase to make Day a nicer school for the students. Responsible for making sure improvements are within NPS guidelines and are authorized prior to purchase.

Service Projects Committee (4)

Work with students to help coordinate and facilitate service projects that the students are interested in pursuing. These projects may come out of Global Goals initiatives, Generation Citizen, or and of the student groups at Day. This is a new committee.

Walk/Bike to School Committee (2)

Plan events and inspire the Day student community to come together and promote health and safer routes for students to walk and bike to school.


Yearbook Committee (3)

Provide assistance and support for Day's yearbook staff.


Annual Fundraising Committee (4)

Help Day PTO raise money for events, scholarships, and technology purchases for the school!


MCAS Parent Volunteers (6)

Individuals would monitor hallways and bathrooms during specific MCAS testing days. Requires a 3 hour commitment on an MCAS day.
