12/15-12/17 December Troop Outing will be Cabin Camping
For the December Troop overnight we are planning to travel local(ish) and stay at the Nobscot Scouting Reservation in Sudbury. The trip is planned for the weekend of 12/13 - 12/15. We have reserved a cabin w/ wood stove (no electric) that is about 1/4 mile from the parking lot. The cabin sleeps 12 people. Ideally that is 2 leaders and 10 scouts.
We will confirm with the PLC at this weeks meeting, but the plan is to bring back Bob Latshaw to help us out on the camping trip. He has already provided a ton of ideas to us and is really excited about this trip. We are considering having him set up and run an orienteering course during the day and if the weather cooperates some Astronomy that evening. If he can get them, playing some sort of laser tag in the woods is also a possibility. We have also discussed challenging the scouts to a cooking competition where they work in groups of 2-3 to come up with a recipe that utilizes the dutch oven as their main cooking method.
Adult Leaders and Mr. Latshaw are willing to give up their time that weekend, however again we currently have 3 scouts signed up. The signup deadline that was established on the Sign Up Genius has passed, however given the current numbers, we will need to extend that deadline out by one week from today to 12/8. After that if we do not have sufficient numbers in attendance we may need to cancel the trip.
The BSA Activity Consent form must be filled out with emergency contact info, signed and fee paid by cash, check or PayPAl (see instructions below) prior to the trip. Submit completed form and check to the troop activity administrator Julie Baird. A current BSA Health form part A&B for scouts and adults must be on file with the Troop to participate.
