First Christian Church
DUE TO THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS, ALL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR CRISIS ASSISTANCE AND THE SOUP KITCHEN HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED.
Ash Wednesday, February 26, is the beginning of Lent. Let's prepare our hearts for Easter by giving of ourselves in service to our neighbors. This is the fourth year that FCC has embarked upon the Lenten Season of Service. There are four opportunities this year: 1) volunteering at Crisis Assistance to sort donated clothing, 2) volunteering to serve or clean-up at the Dilworth Soup Kitchen, 3) giving out hygiene bags to people in need that you encounter during the season, and 4) donating to the "Book Desert Fund" to provide books to elementary school children in need.
To volunteer for Crisis Assistance or the DSK, please review the available days and times below and click on the button to sign up.
Bags filled with hygiene items will be available for you to pick-up in the church entryway on each of the following Sundays: March 1, 8, and 15. No advance sign-up necessary. You are encouraged to give out at least one or two bags, pray for each bag recipient and to make a note about your experience of giving out bags.
To donate to the Book Desert Fund, place your donation in the Sunday offering, marked "Book Desert" or mail to the church in care of Financial Secretary. Books cost $ 5 each; goal is 125 books. No advance sign-up necessary.
Thank you for giving back to your community through the Lenten Season of Service!
