Our K-5 children's ministry has outgrown its current space. As a result, Church Council voted in July 2017 to renovate the fellowship hall and dedicate this space as the new K-5 children's wing. Adult Sunday school classes that currently reside in the fellowship hall will move upstairs beginning June 3 into designated classrooms equipped with permanent walls and better technology. This move will also establish a media-equipped meeting space upstairs for church business in the current Kid’s Crest room.
The funds used to renovate the fellowship hall are from a memorial gift made to the church. This project will not use funds from the general operating budget. In making this decision, it was determined that updating and fitting the fellowship hall for a children’s area instead of building classroom walls the most cost effective option. This project will allow the church to better align and utilize space by providing the children’s ministry a larger area and by enhancing the rooms for adult ministries.
The project is slated to begin with a demolition day of the fellowship hall on Saturday, June 2. To minimize cost, much of the demolition will be handled by volunteers. There is a job for everyone! Many hands make light work!
