Hello Wonderful Volunteers!
We are so grateful for your participation in our community dinners at Dismas House.
Around the dinner table, we find acceptance and belonging, understanding and trust, and the potential to build support systems that will last beyond the program. As we continue to encourage safety and protection from the COVID-19 pandemic, please scroll down to see our updated COVID protocols.
UPDATE from June 2021:
THURSDAYS ARE FAMILY NIGHT!
In June, we begin a partnership with Nashville Food Project who will be providing a fresh, healthy meal every Thursday night for our community. Residents will be able to invite their own families to share the meal with our greater Dismas community of staff, residents, and volunteers. If you sign up for a Family Night, there is no cooking required. All you have to bring is yourself and a willingness to serve as part of the family! There are only FIVE volunteer server spots available each Thursday, so these spaces are particularly for those who are unable to financially afford or make time to provide meals, but still would like to be part of the community dinners.
Our head count: As of 1/25/2022, we have 50 persons to serve including staff. We'll update this site and adjust your email reminders with the latest numbers, so please be on the lookout.
Your head count: Given our space and current regulations, we are able to welcome up to (but no more than) six volunteers for dinner.
Where: 2424 Charlotte Ave, Nashville TN 37203.
Serving Time: We aim to serve dinner 6:00 PM sharp.
Prep time: You can arrive as early as 4:30 PM for any prep or cooking you wish to do in our kitchen. We will wipe down all counters and door handles before you arrive.
What we provide: Our kitchen is well equipped for most cooking needs. We have cookware, dinnerware, and napkins. Please reach out if you have any specific questions reguarding what is available.
What you provide: Food, (beverages and desert is appreciated but not required), and of course, your company.
Dietary Restrictions: Three current residents do not eat pork.
Menu Guidance: Our residents tend to have hearty appetites and downhome tastes. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions at the number below.
Please do not come if you are feeling sick or experiencing any covid symptoms.
All staff, residents, and guests must wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. We also ask that all staff, residents, and volunteers continue to adhere to strong cleaning, sanitizing, and hand washing protocols while in the food preparation area.
The love you deliver with your generosity and especially by your presence at our table is a source of great comfort and support for our residents. Thank you for all you do for Dismas and the broader Nashville community.
