Towards Mobilization of Communities for the Common Good
Sunday, May 16, 11:00 am - 12:00 noon, via Zoom
This session will be hosted by The Rev. Craig Dunn, Senior Pastor of The First Baptist Church of Madison
Presentation on the DMin Dissertation on Towards Mobilizing Communities for the Common Good: Moving from Transactional Action to Relational Gathering, a discussion on the strength of relationships to transform communities and churches. Mobilization ought to move beyond one off events at the height of a crisis, rather it ought to convene communities to discover the common good.
Welcoming our Refugee Neighbors
Sunday, June 13, 11:00 am - 12:00 noon, via Zoom
Join a conversation with our Senior Pastor, Dr. Ellen C. Clémot, our Clerk of Session Maury Gately, a volunteer with RAMP (Refugee Assistance Morris Partners), and Christ Church of Summit’s Associate Minister Rev. Julie Yarborough on ways of welcoming refugees in our area. Dr. Clémot will speak about her forthcoming book, Discerning Welcome, scheduled for publication in 2022 with Cascade Books, which explores the debate on border walls, the laws confronting refugees, and the theology of welcome. Rev. Yarborough is a board member of a refugee resettlement group in Union county “One World One Love” working in partnership with the International Rescue Commission (“IRC”). Maury Gately will share his experiences in working with other PCCT congregants in helping refugee families legally resettle in Morris County. Understanding what it means to be a refugee, their legal status, and the ways we can help as people of faith will all be part of this topical conversation
