Cultivating Math Knowledge Sessions 1 and 2

Welcome! The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Math Education Learning and Development (MELD) Lab is studying how children develop their understanding of math and numbers. Understanding math early is important for later success in algebra and higher math, and the lab is studying ways that this understanding emerges. We would like to offer your child the opportunity to participate in four separate study sessions.

The research takes place at the Educational Sciences Building (1025 W. Johnson Street); nearby parking is paid for by our lab. (You will receive instructions of where to park when you sign up.) A member of our research team will meet you in the lobby. If your child is interested in participating but transportation to and from campus is a concern, please contact the MELD Lab Manager, Allison Monday (contact information below), to arrange a ride for you and your student in our Math van.

If you choose to participate, your family will receive $10 for each of the first three sessions and a balloon payment of $22 upon completion of all four sessions. This sign up is for Sessions 1 and 2 only. We will contact you to schedule Sessions 3 and 4.

Please note that a parent or guardian must accompany students for the first session in order to provide written consent to participate. (Babysitters or other adults may accompany students for later sessions.) An adult is required to stay in the waiting area of the study lab the entire length of each session.
