Ritual committee of Shaarei Shamayim
Set up entails arriving at 9:00 a.m. to set up for Torah study and services. If you want to skip Torah study, you can arrive at 10:00 a.m. Please use the Gaebler entrance (the left-hand door should be unlocked; if it is locked, use the Atrium entrance).
Clean up entails making sure the Gaebler Living Room is totally clean and ritual items are put away after the service. If there is a Kiddush lunch it includes cleaning up the food. Our services end at 12:30 p.m. and our Kiddush lasts until 1:00 or 1:30 p.m.
For directions on set up and clean up, please click here. We will also have hard copies taped to the inside of the Gaebler cabinets.
Rolling the Torah happens after Kiddush. You need to know Hebrew well enough to find the portion in the Torah.
If you’d like to give a dvar Torah (a talk about the portion), please contact Rabbi Laurie.
If you’d like to lead singing during the service, please contact Rabbi Laurie.
If you’d like to provide Kiddush, please contact Joy and she’ll tell you what to do. You can either send in a check for $25-50 or bring the food yourself.
About Torah readings:
We are now (5779) in triennial Year 3, and we read the first 3 aliyot. Next year (5780), we will be in year one of the triennial cycle, and we will read the last 3 aliyot. See http://www.hebcal.com for Torah readings for the triennial cycle. (Aliyah #4 can be included when we read the first Aliyot and when we read the last aliyot)?.
Questions about Torah readings? Contact Sari (sarijudge (at) gmail.com) or Dorith (dorith (at) charter.net).
