Licking Park District

Art in the Park: Plein Air - Aug 8

Attend all four sessions or just one.  The fee is $15 per class. Pre-registration is required. All social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks will be required during portions of class.

The Licking Park District is pleased to offer a 4 week Plein Air class with instructor Tonya Ramsey. Plein Air: The French term for painting outside. It was a term that came when the French Impressionists began to take their easels and move out into the landscape seeking to capture the feeling of light. This will be a unique opportunity for painters of all skill levels to immerse themselves in several days of painting outdoors on park sites around Licking County. Painting outside teaches how to pay attention to the moment you’re in, relax, grow as an artist, engage all your senses, and simplify.

About the Instructor: Tonya Ramsey is an artist living and working in Granville, Ohio. Nature was an endlessly fascinating source of inspiration for Tonya as a child and she spent many hours drawing and painting from life around her rural Ohio home. Endeavoring to grow as an artist, she attended college and received a bachelors degree in Fine Art from the School of Visual Arts in NYC and pursued a masters degree in Art Education from The Ohio State University. She worked as a designer of textiles, a graphic artist for digital and print publications, and as an educator, technical director and computer graphics animator at Disney Animation studios, Los Angeles, CA. Inspired by her mother to pick up a paint brush after many years as a digital artist, Tonya returned to creating works in oil, acrylic and drawing media.
