Rye Cub Scout Pack 2
Please come to our annual Spring campout -- the "Akela Cub-o-ree"!
It will be held on Saturday, May 18th at Camp Alpine in NJ, approx. 30 minutes from Rye (441 US Highway 9W, Alpine, NJ 07620). This event is run by the Algonquin District, so a number of other local Westchester Packs participate. There are a bunch of fun activities during the day on Saturday, including BB-gun, archery and slingshot ranges, a pirate ship where we'll have a parents vs. kids waterball fight, a frontier fort where there will be another game, leather-working, sports etc. These activities will begin at 12:00 noon, and run in a fixed schedule of 30 minutes each until 5 PM. In the evening we'll have dinner and then a campfire with s'mores and entertainment, along with a dramatic fire-side ceremony in which the Tigers, Wolves and Bears will be promoted to their new ranks by the Native American spirit "Akela" and given their new neckerchiefs/slides and hats (these items account for the higher price for Tiger/Wolf/Bear cubs). In the morning we will have breakfast and depart for home.
Here is a detailed schedule:
Arrive anytime from 8 AM onward
12:00-5:00 Activities station rotations (30 min each)

Please bring your own tent! We just learned from the District Coordinators that the platform tents are not yet up. Please see the attached “Camping with Rye Pack 2” guide for further information on what to bring and expect. DON’T FORGET TO BRING A “MESS KIT” FOR EACH ATTENDEE (details in the guide). As with all of our camp-outs, the whole family is welcome and we'll ask you each to pitch in during the activities or help with meal prep or clean-up. Cost is $30/person + $32 additional for Tiger/Wolf/Bear scouts for their new garb. Registration closed as of Sunday, April 28th, but we have a couple extra spots left so sign up now!
Jeff Woods and Armando Ramirez are leading the event (no small undertaking). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Jeff: [email protected]
