MSA FORWARD 2020 -- Volunteer Sign Up

MSA FORWARD 2020 Volunteer Sign-Up

The Museum Store Association values your participation and contributions toward making MSA FORWARD the best conference possible. Please note that signing up on this form is your commitment to volunteer for the role and time listed.  If your availability changes and you are unable to volunteer for a slot that you have signed up for, please notify the MSA office as soon as possible. As we approach the event, MSA staff will reach out to confirm your time slot(s) and provide further detail about your positions.

Each role is described in more detail below. If you have any questions, please contact the MSA office at (202) 367-1106 or [email protected].

  • Art Tour Monitor
    • Gathers art tour attendees at the central meeting place, greets Art Tour Docent, assists with keeping the group together throughout the tour, answers questions about the conference.  Arrives to the designated meet up point 15 minutes before the scheduled tour.
  • Buyer Vendor Hub Host
    • Positioned at the Buyer Vendor Hub during major activities, greets people, answers questions about the Expo and Buyers Choice Awards, generates conversation and excitement
  • Conference Greeter
    • Meets MSA Staff at the registration desk, will be stationed throughout the lobby and Hilton Cleveland Downtown to direct attendees to registration, answers questions about navigating MSA FORWARD.
  • Excursion Bus Monitor: 
    • Checks in attendees against the registration list, confirms that everyone is on the bus before departure from and return to the hotel. Monitor answers general questions about the excursion site and provides information about lunch options. Monitor has contact information for designated person at excursion site, and an on-call MSA staff person at hotel.  Meets MSA Staff at the Excursion Desk 45 minutes before scheduled departure of the excursion, and returns to the bus 15 minutes prior to the scheduled end of the excursion.  We will do our best to honor requests for a specific excursion, but cannot make any guarantees.
  • Greeter and Ticket Taker
    • Greets attendees at the door, checks for conference badge or gala guest ticket, and answers basic questions about the event.
  • MSA Membership Desk Assistance
    • Greets attendees and answers basic questions about conference logistics and about MSA membership, distributes the MSA Membership Directory. The table will be stocked with schedules at a glance, excursion information, general conference information, MSA membership applications and brochures, and contact information for MSA staff on site.
  • Registration Assistance
    • Assists MSA staff in the registration process, greets and welcome attendees, and answers questions about the event and MSA in general.  May also help with distributing Excursion tickets and waivers, and collecting tickets from those about to depart on Excursions.
  • Room Monitor, Breakout Sessions
    • Reminds and encourages attendees to fill out evaluations and acts as a timer for the speaker.  Ensures that there is ample seating and that the room temperature is comfortable, notifies MSA with any issues or questions.  Will have contact information for MSA’s Education Coordinator and signs indicating time remaining.  Arrives at session 10 minutes prior to start time, stays until 10 minutes after end time. We will do our best to honor requests for a specific session, but cannot make any guarantees.

    • Assists with prep and setup of General Session room (if needed), assists with helping attendees find open seats, serves as a microphone runner during Q&A.  Arrives at session 15 minutes prior to start time.

    • Monitors the Silent Auction to ensure that every bid sheet has a pen, and that bids are following guidelines for starting bid and minimum increases.  After winners are announced, assists winners with collecting their items to check out.
  • Swag Bag Stuffer
    • Creates the conference swag bags by stuffing sponsored items and conference information into tote bags
