Le Monde volunteers
Blanchet (pronounced Blan-shay) House is a nonprofit social services organization located in downtown Portland. They provide food, clothing, and housing programs to people in need.
Please committ to making EITHER (1) 10 simple bagged lunches containing a sandwich, piece of fruit, and a purchased wrapped snack OR (2) 10 COVID care kits consisting of 4 items -- 1 gallon-size zippered plastic bag; 1 cotton or paper mask; 1 soap, or travel shampoo, or individual pack of antibacterial wipes; and 1 wrapped, easy to chew, store-bought snack. These lunches and COVID care kits allow Blanchet House to provide nutritious meals and supplies to people in between their scheduled hot meal services and during interruptions to regular service. Their staff will hand out the lunches and care kits you make at their facility in downtown Portland and share them with partner shelters in need of meals and supplies.
Also, please note that when signing up, it will ask you to select a quantity. Qty 1 = 10 lunches or 10 kits, Qty 2 = 20 lunches or 20 kits.
This month, we will have 3 different drop-off sites (one in N/NE, one in SE, and one in SW) for our volunteers to deliver their lunches and/or care kits to between roughly 2pm and 4pm on Friday, 2/26 (JT Nies will then swing by after 4pm on Friday and collect from each drop-off site and deliver to Blanchet House on Saturday morning). Next week, JT will email all volunteers with the addresses of the drop-off sites. And should you have any questions, or need to make alternative arrangements, please feel free to text JT at (703) 855-8856.
Thank you for all that you do to give back to those who need it most!
