About Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten’s Always A Bridesmaid Synopsis:

This hilarious comedy centers around four friends who have made a promise to each other at their Senior prom: to be in each other’s weddings, no matter what stands in their way. More than thirty years later, these mostly Southern friends are making making that promise come true at the historic Laurel Oaks sitting room in Laurelton, Virginia.

Character Breakdown:

Please note: Any part may be played by an actor of any race or ethnicity.

KARI AMES-BISSETTE: 20s-early 30s, a kind-hearted, spirited Southern charmer, who speaks mostly in monologue

LIBBY RUTH AMES: 40s-50s, hopeless romantic, sweet country woman, plainspoken and guileless (please note: Libby Ruth MUST have a southern accent as she is the southern belle of the group)

SEDALIA ELLICOTT: 60s, a gregarious, energetic Virginia hostess and life-force

MONETTE GENTRY: 40s-50s, kinda flashy, kinda trashy, Southern-to-the-bone flirt (please note: Monette must also have a Southern accent though not as distinct as Libby’s.)

CHARLIE COLLINS: 40s-50s, tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, acerbic Southern free spirit (please note: Charlie must have a slight southern accent).

DEEDRA WINGATE: 40s to 50s, headstrong with a dry wit, no-nonsense Northern transplant

***Please note: All parts will have to do some physical comedy with the help of a stage combat director.***

What to prepare:

Please be prepared to do a cold reading from the script at auditions. Southern accents are not required at auditions but we would love to see them if you have one. Please also have a conflict list ready from March 9-June 21st. Bring a headshot and resume if you have one. Note: We will not cast anyone with tech week conflicts on the week of May 31-June 5.
