St Julia's Parish
Partners Organized to Welcome Immigrants and Refugees (St Julia’s POWIR Parish)
Thanks to everyone who helped pull together our Afghan friends’ apartment on Christmas Eve. Their home is warm and welcoming, and they are settling in nicely. Two of the three men are ready to begin looking for work. While they get acclimated, St Julia’s POWIR group is committed to supporting them. We can’t do this without the help of our parishioners and community friends. There are three ways for you to help right now:
- Sign-up to get them one/some of the needed items listed below and bring it to the St Julia’s Parish Office (374 Boston Post Rd, Weston). If you sign-up to cover a utility bill(s), please be sure to fill out your contact info and someone will be in touch that month.
- Donate to the GoFundMe (gofund.me/2fe7c48f) page to help raise money to support their needs over the coming months. These funds are necessary for rent, health bills, any clothing needs, possible ESL assistance, transportation, etc.
- Contact us (info below) if you or someone you know would be willing to assist with the following:
- ESL lessons (two men need to learn English asap!)
- Help with job search: both men have extensive training and worked with US Military contractors for much of the last decade. They are earnest, hard-working and enthusiastic.
- Be on a list to provide occasional rides to/from appointments
- Be on a list to cook an occasional meal
If you would like to discuss any of these opportunities or have any questions, please contact:
THANK YOU!
