Love Herndon -2020
UPDATE Sunday 3/22: Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, at this point we have most positions filled but are still in need of standby volunteers to be availble in the event of unplanned needs or day-off volunteer vacancies.
If you are available and willing to help in this regard please contact the following POCs:
- ON SITE: will be interacting with guests, please see precautions below in red. In need of 2-3 additional folks to be available to come in as needed in the event that a current volunteer is unable to come in. Please signup below and/or email [email protected] if you can serve!
- OFF SITE: No guest interaction but will be serving alongside other volunteers. Some evening slots are available and similar to above, standby folks are needed to help with day-off volunteer gaps and shopping runs. Please contact [email protected] if you're available to serve!
Open Door will be hosting the FACETS Hypothermia Shelter from March 22-29th. This year we will host approximately 45-65 guests based on the latest estimates. Due to the COVID-19 virus we are “minimally manning” this year’s ministry.
We would love your help, but please DO NOT volunteer for an “on-site” position if you are:
- Currently ill and/or have respiratory issues,
- are over 60 years old,
- or routinely live with an elderly person.
If one or more of the above situations applies to you, please only signup for a role clearly labeled as “off-site” or "No Guest Interaction" or one of our other critical off-site support roles.
For those willing and able, the remaining opportunities are to serve on-site as cooks, servers, shuttle drivers, overnight chaperones, set-up/clean-up crews, and help provide a "ministry presence." Please sign up here to volunteer for the jobs/days that you would like to help serve our neighbors in need.
If this is your first year volunteering, there is a mandatory volunteer training session that can be found on the odpcec.org website.
Once signed up, please plan on checking in at the Volunteer Room (TBA) 10min prior to your shift.
Thank you in advance for your service!
