Bring Jackets & Pullovers for Shearn Elementary Kids (31)

Help us bless our neighbors at Shearn Elementary. Many kids don’t have a jacket to wear to school. Shearn is asking for new (due to COVID-19) jackets and pullovers. Children in Pre-K through 3rd need jackets and 4th-5th need pullovers. (F)

Enjoy Dinner with the World for Thanksgiving (or beyond) (23)

Invite an ESL student or visiting scholar for Thanksgiving Dinner (or another special time during the holidays). Your guests will be able to communicate in English. (F)

 

Spread Christmas Love with Gifts to Refugees New to Houston (19)

You will be paired with a refugee family and given information about gifts that would bless them. You can deliver the gifts in person or meet with the family over Zoom. You can choose the size of the family. (F)

Tutoring Reading or Math with a Student at Shearn Elementary (23)

Tutors are needed Mon - Thur after school and Saturday mornings. Each tutor is matched with 1 - 3 students. Training will be provided. Tutoring will start in late October. (A)

Visit Someone Who Is Homebound and Share Some Christmas Cheer (12)

Many of our members have gotten to the age where it is just not easy for them to come to church. Sign up to visit one of these folks a couple times during the season and share a smile. (F)

Welcome Refugees by Serving on a Welcome Team (19)

Volunteer Welcome Teams partner with a refugee family during their first six months in Houston. Teams connect refugees with critical resources, act as a support system, and honor and esteem refugees with the gift of friendship. Training provided. (F)

Global Missions Offering cityrise.org/gmo (500)

Support missions around the world through our annual Global Missions Offering. This offering goes to support the efforts of the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, and the Baptist General Convention of Texas

 

Mistletoe Warehouse at CityRise Missouri City (25)

Donate new or gently used toys & clothing on Nov. 21, 28, Dec. 4, and 5 in the bins at all campuses. These donations will then be used at a special event called “Mistletoe Warehouse” on December 11 at CityRise Missouri City. We'd love to have 1,000 toys!

Angel Tree Prison Ministry (20)

Provide gifts for kids with a parent in prison. Iglesia Crosspoint Bellaire will be sharing the gospel with these children and families this Christmas season.

Make a GO BAG - GoBags are used by FBI, HPD and Harris Co Sheriff's Office when interacting with trafficking victims. (50)

GoBags provide for the immediate needs of the victims. Approximate cost to fill a bag is $30. Bags can be picked up and dropped off at FCA or at WU Baptist.(F)

English as a Second Language Conversation Partner, Assistant Teacher, or Teacher (18)

Meet with adult English learners on Sunday afternoons or Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. Teach or just help students practice English by having conversations(A)

 

Make a Welcome Kit for a Refugee Family (29)
