ABIDE is back!
I am so thankful for another year to dive deep into God's Word for the fall and spring semester as we study through the book of Philippians. You will find in this study three themes: Christ, the mind (specifically the mind focused on Him), and joy.
In a day and time when our minds can easily shift to circumstances and people, Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, reveals through this letter to a church in Philippi how to walk in a manner worthy of one's calling with their mind focused on Christ - the name above all names where everyone's knee will bow. We will learn what this means to a heart surrendered and walking in obedience to Him. We will learn what true joy is and where it comes from for the one steadfastly set on Christ and things above.
We are doing something new this semester. I am hosting an ABIDE launch gathering taking place on Sunday, September 19 from 4pm-5pm at Calvary Chapel. This will serve as your introduction to the study. You will receive the first part of the study, meet your facilitator and others in your group, and receive further instruction from me on the semester ahead.
The first gathering for small groups will take place the week of September 27 - October 1. You will find, as you register, a variety of days/times to choose from that works best with your schedule. Please select the one that you are able to commit to for the semester. Please take note of day, time, and location. The duration of the fall semester will be 10 weeks. We will complete the second part of Philippians in the spring.
Depending on what day you choose, you will discuss chapter 1 during the first gathering. Again, the introduction to the study will take place on Sunday, September 19. I really encourage you to mark your calendars and attend this time.
The cost for ABIDE is $15.00. This will help cover the cost of print for the material. If you cannot afford the cost, please contact me. We always have scholarships available and do not want anyone missing out on an opportunity to study Scripture.
I cannot encourage you enough to set aside time to study God's Word. If you have ever found yourself void of joy, in a discouraging circumstance, your mind wandering and anxious, this study is for you! I hope you prayerfully choose to abide in His Word with us!
Cheering you on in this race!
