North Scott Community Feed Our Children Ministry
Feed Our Children Ministry provides a free lunch opportunity to our children in the North Scott community during the summer break. During the summer, more than 830 children in our neighborhoods are under served through the loss of the weekday free and reduced lunch program. Additionally, there are under served children not yet school age, as well as those recently graduated. For some families, simply having more mouths to feed during the summer places additional stress on existing resources.
Our goal is to provide a free nutritious lunch to children in our community through this twice a week ministry, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 11-August 22 (NOTE EXCEPTION - NO MEAL JULY 4). Distribution will take place from 11:30-12:30 outside Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge, Eldridge United Methodist Church in Eldridge, Hope Lutheran Church in Dixon, SONShine Ministries in Mt. Joy, John Glenn Elementary in Donahue, and in Park View at Manor Drive and Lincoln, Deer Creek, Neil Armstrong Elementary, at the Double Diamonds parking lot in Park View, and at Zion Lutheran in Princeton.
We need your help! We anticipate serving between 300-400 lunches a week! We need the following items: Peanut Butter, Jam, Chips, Gogurts, String Cheese, sliced cheese, margarine, bread, fresh fruit, fruit and applesauce cups, drink boxes, cookies, baggies, napkins, spoons, and brown bags.
We are able to store most items now. Bread and fresh fruit will need to be replenished throughout the summer. Thank you for your generous donations!
