Fine Arts Guild of the Rockies
Poisoned apples. Glass slippers. Who needs 'em?! Not Snow White and her posse of disenchanted princesses in the hilarious hit musical that is anything but Grimm. These are not your perfect Dinsey princesses! They have been around the block and know a thing or two!
There are roles for 6-10 "princesses" of all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and ages. These are not your perfect Disney princesses! We are seeking strong singing actors with a flair for comedy. Auditionees should plan to sing one musical theater song, preferably comedic, acapella, or with a backing track in a key that is comfortable. The song should show off your acting abilities. Also, be prepared to read from the script.
Auditions will be held in the Classroom at the Estes Park Community Center, 660 Community Dr., Estes Park, CO 80517. Rehearsal locations in Estes Park to be determined. Questions: [email protected]
Rehearsals will begin after May 15 and held weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons, socially distanced, both indoors and outdoors. Performances will be outside at Performance Park, July 8-11, following Larimer County Covid guidelines for outdoor events/performances at that time.
Casting - vocal ranges can be found at: https://broadwaylicensing.com/shows/offbroadway/disenchanted/
Snow White - female - Brassy and self-assured. The leader of the princess pack and likes to be in control. Role requires great 'straight man' comedic timing, improvisation skills with fantastic soprano range.
Cinderella - female - Perky, quirky, and impish. She's always enthusiastic, especially when it comes to being a real-life princess, but shoot, it involves more than glass slippers and pretty gowns. Role requires great comedic timing, improvisational skills with a strong soprano belt.
Sleeping Beauty - female - the perfect comic foil for Snow White. Loves to dance (sometimes uncontrollably) and is a fantastic physical comedienne. Role requires great comedic timing.
Belle (may also play Mermaid and Rapunzel) - female - smart and witty bookworm from classic French lit who speaks and sings with an American accent. Role requires good comedic timing and strong belt.
Hua Mulan (may also play Pocahontas and/or Princess Badroulbadour) - female - legendary folk hero of Asian descent from the poem The Ballad of Mulan with a good-natured sense of humor, but maintaining respect for her culture. Excited to reveal her true self.
The Little Mermaid - female - once innocent and obedient, she's now rowdy and rebellious. The life of the party! Inclusive and diverse casting encouraged.
Pocahontas - female - plucky, valiant. She has been homogenized by the entertainment industry and is on a journey to restore her authentic, historical self.
The Princess Who Kissed the Frog - female - having been left out of the kingdom for decades, this Black princess is here to claim her throne and celebrate inclusivity and diversity in fairy tales. Wonderfully witty; joyous.
Rapunzel-female (or male in drag) - American capitalism won't turn this campy, Mel Brooksian songstress into a damsel in distress. Brunehildesque, strong, and fun-loving, she's bent on getting her fair share from those who make bank off fairy tale princesses. Inclusive and diverse casting encouraged.
Princess Badroulbadour - female - originally from the South-Asian-turned Middle-Eastern Aladdin sagas, this sultan's daughter has had enough of being secondary in her own tale. Misogyny begone! It's a whole new world and this independent and puckish princes is taking her story back!
