Garden Club Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Garden Club activities at Belle Hall Elementary! The BHE Garden Club is a PTA-sponsored club for all students that is organized and ran by parent volunteers. As such, volunteers like you are helping to make Garden Club a success for our kids!
Here are a few things about the BHE Garden Club in Spring 2021...
Garden Club has been allowed to meet again using parent volunteers with a few adjustments to maintain school COVID safety guidlines:
- All parent volunteers must check in at the front office and sign a health waiver.
- All parent volunteers must wear a mask.
Garden Club will be held during recess with the classes assigned to the garden area for the day. This will mean that each class will have garden club approximately once a month.
An important lesson for the students is that the school garden is THEIR GARDEN. Garden Club activities can include planting, watering, weeding, digging, mulching, garden crafts, learning the basics of horticulture and how the fruits and vegetables they are growing can by used in cooking. Unfortunately, we will not be able to have our popular "garden to picnic table" experiences this spring, but we will talk about healthy eating and send home recipe cards containing ingredients found in the school garden.
To make the meetings a success, we need parent volunteers for 2, 2.5-hour shifts every Tuesday..so please consider volunteering. It's a really fun time outside with the kids!
Also, if you know anyone who may interested, please pass along this signup. All levels of green thumbs are accepted!
See you out in the Garden!
