PTA Coordinators Needed for 2019-2020

Greetings RCV families!  We need your help to organize activities for the 2019-2020 school year!  Please see the descriptions below for details. All activities will come with a budget funded by the PTA, we just need volunteers to coordinate the events!    

As you can see, there are a LOT of activities and we simply can't do them without help from parents like you!!  Our highest priority needs are marked with asterisk symbols (***), and we will happily provide you with training materials and past examples to work from to minimize the burden on you!  For more details, please feel free to contact any member of the nominating committee:

Available Slot


Attend all RCV PTA & board meetings and record meeting minutes. Distribute and collect signature sheets to ensure quorum is met. Maintain documents for the PTA, including a current copy of the bylaws. Attend MCCPTA Training.

***Cultural Arts Coordinator***

Arrange (approximately) 4 performers to do in-school assemblies that help broaden and enrich the arts at RCV. Timing of the assemblies must be coordinated with the principal. Attendance at scheduled events is helpful.

***Fundraising Assistant***

Work with the VP of Fundraising to coordinate fundraising activities for RCV (e.g. Buy Nothing Sell Nothing, Restaurant Nights, End of Year Carnival). Recruit helpers as needed!!!

***Membership Chair***

During SUMMER: Prepare membership forms / incentives. During FALL: Send out and collect membership forms, distribute PTA membership cards, and maintain a current list of members. Work with Treasurer to ensure payments are made to MCCPTA / MDPTA.

***Fall Book Fair Coordinator***

During SUMMER: Contact Scholastic to arrange the fall book fair (dates are flexible, but will probably be hosted in October). During FALL: Coordinate volunteers to setup and staff the book fair.

***Reflections (Arts Contest) Coordinator***

FALL 2019: Send out informational fliers, collect entries, organize judging, prepare certificates/awards for RCV participants, and send eligible entries on to MCCPTA.

Help translate PTA flyers into Spanish and/or verbally translate for parents at PTA meetings

Approve requests to join the RCV PTA email group, control user posting permissions, unsubscribe members upon request, etc.

MCCPTA Delegate (2)

Attend monthly MCCPTA meetings (4th Tuesday of every month) and advise RCV community of pertinent issues (e.g. curriculum, budget, parental concerns, etc), votes to represent RCV, and brings RCV issues to MCCPTA when needed.

Communications Coordinator

Opportunity to help from home! Populate a newsletter template with updates from the PTA and other topics of interest to RCV families. Ideally monthly updates, but frequency is negotiable!


Spirit Wear Coordinator

During SUMMER: Work with the vendor (http://www.customsportswear.net) to design spirit wear (such as shirts, sweatshirts, etc. with the RCV eagle). Display products at back-to-school events (starting with the Open House) and collect order forms.


Auditing Committee (3)

During SUMMER or FALL: Review Treasurer's annual report against PTA receipts / documentation to ensure our financial records are in order. Due by October 31, 2019.

Staff Appreciation Coordinator (Back to School)

BACK-TO-SCHOOL: Coordinate 2 potlucks to welcome staff back to school, by creating signup geniuses for (1) Breakfast and (2) Snack/Dessert potlucks in the last week of August / 1st week of September. Also, cater a dinner for staff on Back to School Night


Ice Cream Social Coordinator

BACK-TO-SCHOOL: Purchase ice cream / toppings, recruit volunteers, and advertise the event to welcome parents and students back to school. Usually occurs in 1st week of school.

Family Fun Night (Bingo)

FALL 2019: Purchase food, prizes, and bingo supplies, send out fliers, and recruit volunteers


Multicultural Night Coordinator

FALL 2019: Coordinate this night for parents and students to share their culture with others. Participants set up a table to display items from their country, often including a native food, and sometimes take part in a fashion show or dance exhibition


Family Dance Coordinator

FALL or WINTER 2019: Arrange DJ, purchase food, send out fliers, and recruit volunteers


Staff Appreciation Coordinator (Holidays)

WINTER 2019: Coordinate 2 potlucks to wish staff happy holidays, by creating signup geniuses and arranging setup of: (1) Thanksgiving pies and (2) Winter break desserts

During WINTER: Contact Scholastic to arrange the spring book fair (dates are flexible, but will probably be hosted in March). During SPRING: Coordinate volunteers to setup and staff the book fair.

Staff Appreciation Coordinator (Teacher Appreciation Week)

SPRING 2020: May 4-8 (entire week, 1 activity per day): Make teachers feel like rock stars! Coordinate a potluck breakfast, leave gifts in teacher mailboxes, travel around school with a snack cart, and organize a catered lunch. Recruit helpers as needed!

Talent Show Coordinator

SPRING 2020: Send out fliers for kids to sign up, set up and attend rehearsal times, and coordinate the actual talent show evening. Recruit volunteers to help as needed!
