.5 CEU Training
We hear the buzz word all the time -kindergarten “readiness”, but just what does that mean? While many might think of academics (e.g., writing their name, counting to 10, knowing the colors) as the critical school readiness skills, school readiness actually refers to a much broader range of skills.
In addition to some academic basics, school readiness skills also include self-help care (toileting with little assistance and putting on a jacket), attention, problem solving skills and concentration, physical skills (e.g. having the endurance to sit upright for an entire school day), emotional regulation, language skills and play and social skills.
Through large and small group discussion and activities for application of concepts, we will explore what this word “readiness” really means and provide you with resources for a more holistic approach to childhood development in preparation for kindergarten.
