Flour to Empower Bakery Assistant: Dry Ingredient Measuring

Help us prepare ingredients for future use in baking delicious cakes, breads and candies. Partner with Clubhouse members in our Flour to Empower kitchen to measure and package dry ingredients. We'll provide step-by-step instructions for each recipe.

Work with Clubhouse members to:

  • Label clear plastic bags
  • Measure dry ingredients such as: flour, sugar, baking powder and more
  • Package ingredients into pre-labeled bags
  • Storage and clean-up

Each pre-packaged ingredient bag will give our members a head-start with baking and increase their efficiency in the kitchen. When members spend time with you in the kitchen they are engaging directly in the operations of our bakery and working on skills related to food service and business operations.

Attire required to volunteer in the bakery includes non-slip, closed toe shoes and minimal jewelry. Short-sleeve shirts are preferred, though long-sleeves may be rolled up. Hair should be pulled back. Synapse House will provide an apron and hair net.

***If this is your first-time volunteering at Synapse House, arrive 30 minutes early to complete volunteer registration paperwork.***
