Palos Verdes High School
Hey there Sea Kings, friends, & family! Do you have it in you to be a library hero? Need community service hours? The library needs you!
Roughly 8,750 textbooks have to be distributed and collected every school year, both within a short time period. It is a BIG task and we need YOUR HELP to do it well.
We need both student and adult volunteers.
In the FALL the library needs to be sure students receive the correct books for the courses they're enrolled in, all books have been scanned & to the correct name, and all issued books are in solid condition. Students need the textbook policy sheet given to them and to get in and out quickly. [Adults help with scanning, managing lines, collecting paperwork, and minor book repairs; students help with pulling books, restocking book stacks, and miscellaneous tasks. There may also be new textbooks to stamp and stick labels onto.]
In the SPRING, textbooks need to be collected, confirmed that they were turned in by the student they were checked out to, checked that they have not already been paid for, checked thoroughly for damage and wear and tear, and stacked in piles. [Adults help with scanning, sorting, and minor book repairs; students help with sorting, stacking, and miscellaneous tasks.]
>> Time slots are created for our anticipated needs based on bell schedules:
- A.) Please consider taking more than one shift in a day (adults are welcome to stay between shifts if that is convenient.
- B.) Some shifts will turn out to be slower/shorter than we anticipated, we appreciate your understanding.
We always have work to do! If all the volunteer slots are full (or you have more time to donate throughout the year), please still drop by or email, we would love to have you!!!
