PS 261 Social Action Committee
Last year, the Day of Service and Learning was a huge success. We're hoping to build on that and coordinate a day where our kids can be immersed in Dr. King's values of service, justice, action and learning. The workshops and activities are interactive and fun--which requires grown up supervision and support. Please sign up for however you would like to help out.
The flow of the day is:
10 - 10:30 Welcome and Cafeteria Activities: Creating Snack Packs for a nearby shelter, Mixing personalized skin color paint for a mural, Art activities connected to a timeline of Dr. King's life and the Civil Rights Movement
10:30 - 11:15 Workshop Session One: (There will be 5 or 6 different workshops for families to attend ranging from Be an Upstander to Making Protest Signs and Buttons to Children in the Civil Rights Movement)
11: 30 - 12:15 Workshop Session Two
12:15 - 12:45 Assembly with singing, presentations...
