NoHo FUMC & The Wesley School

NoHo FUMC & Wesley School Tree Lot 2022

The NoHo FUMC/Wesley School Tree Lot is always looking for some big hearted Tree Elves willing to give up some time to help make a positive impact in our community by spreading Christmas Cheer and raising money for good causes.

We accept volunteers all ages but if you are under 14 then a Parent or Guardian must also volunteer with the person under 14. All volunteers under the age of 18 must have a consent form on file. You can download the form below.

We need the following positions on Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays when the tree lot is open....

Greeter / Dispatch Elf:

  • The Greeter / Dispatch Elf should greet every customer who walks onto the lot with a friendly "Hello."
  • The Greeter Elf should walk up and down the tree aisles in order to be available to answer any questions. (We aren't a hard sale lot. We let the customers walk around and look without pressure.)
  • Once a tree is selected the Greeter Elf should make sure the customer knows where to pay and should show a Tree Handler Elf which tree needs to be carried to the dispatch area.
  • During slow times the Greeter Elf can help sweep the walk, make sure tie down ropes are ready, and all trees are tagged.
  • The Dispatch Elves have an assigned location that they should not leave unless they ask another Elf to cover for them.
  • After the customer pays for their tree, the Dispatch Elf should make sure that the customer is matched up with a tree loader and should confirm that the correct tree is being loaded.
  • During busy times, the Dispatch Elves make sure that the customers are matched up with a loader in the order that they paid so no customers are overlooked and forced to wait longer than necessary.

Tree Handler / Loader Elf:

  • The primary job for the Tree Handler Elves is to carry trees.
    • They should carry the customer's tree from the sales floor spot to the dispatch area.
    • When needed, Tree Handler Elves will also help Tree Loaders carry trees to the customers' cars and put them on top of cars. Tree Handler Elves do NOT tie the trees down. After helping the loader get the tree on the car they should immediately return to the lot.
    • Tree Handler Elves will carry trees from the back storage area onto the lot for sale as spaces open up on the lot.
  • During slow times, Tree Handler Elves can help by making sure all trees have water

Cashier Elf:

  • The Cashier Elf job is a retricted position limited to inviduals over the age of 18 and are either a NoHo FUMC member approved by Dan Doggett or Muffett Brinkman or a Wesley Community member approved by Verena Denove.
  • This position does require training for all inviduals even if you have worked this position in past years. The Cashier Elf will need to arrive an hour early for their first shift for training.

Snack Elf:

  • One of the most important aspects of the mission is making sure all Elves who are giving of their time and backs to sell Christmas trees are taken care of and that means fed! We need individuals willing to be our Snack Elves and bring snacks and drinks both, healthy and naughty, for approximately 24 people.
  • Snacks should be delivered around the opening of each day (Friday 4pm, Saturday 10am, & Sunday 12pm).  To help reduce the spread of germs, Snacks and Drinks should be individually wrapped servings. For example, 1 to 2 oz individual bags of chips versus a large family bag or 12 oz cans of soad versus 2 liter bottles.

Youth Elf:

  • Youth Elves are any Wesley Student, NoHo FUMC member, or Scout volunteer who is between the ages of 12 and 17 years old.
    • Any volunteer under the age of 18 must have a Parental Consent form on file. You can download the Parental Consent Form just below here on this page.
    • Any volunteer under the age of 14 must have a parent volunteering with them. No drop offs for children under the age of 14.
    • When signing up for a child under the age of 14, please select the appropriate child slot (youth elf or child elf) and register the child's name. Please also list the volunteering parent's name in the comments section. Then, sign the volunteering parent up in one of the adult slots.
  • Duties will be assigned to Wesley Students or Scouts based on their age, strength, and experience.

Child Elf:

  • Child Elves are any Wesley Students, NoHo FUMC members, or Scout volunteers who are between the ages of 5 and 11 years old.
    • Any volunteer under the age of 18 must have a Parental Consent form on file. You can download the Parental Consent Form just below here on this page.
    • Any volunteer under the age of 14 must have a parent volunteering with them. No drop offs for children under the age of 14.

  • Duties will be assigned to Wesley Students or Scouts based on their age, strength, and experience. We do have tasks the smaller children can help with like watering trees, collecting branches, sweeping the walkways, etc.

VERY IMPORTANT!! We will also need help on specific delivery days when the truck shows up with the next load of fresh trees. We will need a team of able bodied adults and teens to help unload the trees, give them all a fresh cut, and set each one up in a stand. Sorry, but this is not a day for children helpers under the age of 12.

LAST SUGGESTION!! In the green title bar just below, click on Calendar View on the right side of the bar for easier navigation of all the sign up slots.
