Welcome new Club members! Would you like to meet other Club members and play pickleball? Beginning January 16th, New Member Meetups for Novice players will be held every Saturday at 11 AM. Depending on the number of players attending, a round robin format will be used. Advance sign-up is required (no drop-ins allowed). Sign up here. New Member Meetups are available for sign-up beginning 8 days before the event date. Each Meetup is limited to 10 players. Wear court shoes and bring a paddle (and a pickleball if you have one).
This Meetup is for Novice pickleball players. To be a Novice, you should be able to safely play a game of pickleball without assistance. You should know the basic rules of the game (including score keeping) and be able to serve, dink, volley, and hit from the baseline with some success. If you haven't reached this level yet, see the instructions below for Beginners.
New members are invited to attend and play in these Meetups for up to approximately five weeks. After that, players should transition to QCPC Organized Play or Skill-Level round robins and/or private play with new QCPC friends.
This Round Robin is on Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. (Do not be confused by the time shown under the date on the left side of the sign-up list. That is the time of day on the seventh day before the event when sign-ups start.)
Sign-up Categories:
1. "PLAYERS" - Members who sign-up here (up to 10) have a reserved space in the Meetup. If you sign-up but have a change of plans, delete your sign-up so that someone else can sign-up. When the Players list is full, sign up on the "Others Interested" list.
2. "OTHERS INTERESTED" - This list is used by the Club to assess whether there is sufficient demand to create another Meetup. Even if a cancellation occurs on the Players list, the vacant slot will go to whoever is first to sign up for it. SUG does not automatically move names from the Others Interested list to the Players list, so it's a good idea to check the Players list regularly. Members on the Others Interested list should not come to the Meetup. Additional players (over 10) will not be able to play.
POA COVID-19 restrictions apply to New Member Meetups. Participants must maintain 6+ feet of social distance and wear recommended protective masks except when on the courts playing pickleball.
Special Instructions for Beginners and Advanced Players
Beginners: Do not sign up for this Meetup. Beginners must learn the fundamentals of pickleball and on-court safety before signing up for a Meetup or round robin. Please contact Jean Bustard ([email protected]) for assistance.
Advanced Players: New members who are advanced players (ratings of 4.0 or higher from USA Pickleball or IPTPA) looking to play in a suitable group should contact Dave Mungo ([email protected]).
