Welcome to Sign Up Genius for our newly relocated LIFE Food Pantry at Shoppers Haven 541 Loveland Maderia Road. (Two doors down from the BMV).
** LIFE Food Pantry closes when Loveland Schools closes for a Snow Day. We will notify you of a closure when this occurs. We want all of our volunteers to stay safe.
*** Due to Covid we are now serving Clients at the pantry with a shopping sheet they fill out and the Personal shopper role is to fill the order. The Client does not come into the pantry but remains outside and receives their cart of groceries. In the pantry we all wear masks, maintain a safe distance from each other and wash/sterlize our hands and the carts. Importantly, if you feel ill please delete yourself from the sign up or if you have reason to believe that you have been exposed please remove yourself from the sign up so as not to risk exposing those working on a shift.
We have expanded service hours beginning in October. Hours are Tuesday and Thursday evenings 4:00-6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings 10:00 a.m.-12 noon. The Lead will come in an hour before shift to open and receive any donations. All other volunteers are to come in 30 minutes prior to their shift. All shift volunteers are to remain 30 minutes after the last client is admitted into the shop for finishing up and cleaning.
The pantry is now serving clients of Loveland 45140 area as a "Choice Pantry". This means clients will be selecting their food choices from the shelves. A personal shopper will stay with clients, assisting them in making their selections. Each shift will have a Lead to manage the overseeing of the pantry and volunteers, and a computer volunteer who will handle checking in the client and collecting documentation as needed. The back room volunteers will handle the sorting of donations, bagging of some items for distribution and stocking floor shelves, refrigerator and freezer.
As in the past we welcome all adults to volunteer. All volunteers must first go through a training session since we have a new system. Training for new volunteers will be done by shadowing another personal shopper or trained by the Lead. You can not volunteer as a Lead, a computer volunteer, or as a personal shopper without having volunteered as a back room volunteer first. It is important to understand how the pantry works prior to volunteering to work with clients. If signing up for the first time, please volunteer as a back room volunteer. We appreciate and welcome all our new volunteers!
We will allow high school students to volunteer only as a backroom volunteer and they must be trained prior to volunteering. In some cases a high school student can be a personal shopper after volunteering over mutiple times. High school students can also volunteer to help with donation pickups or a donation sorter shift. Please check Signup Genius. Students can also help with food drives to gain community service hours either by organizing a drive or volunteering for a scheduled drive by assisting with sorting and shelving. Check the website for information regarding upcoming food drives.
Thank you for volunteering and if you have questions, email Barb Wagner at [email protected] The pantry website, www.lifefoodpantry.org, is continually updated with the latest news of our pantry.
