Auction / Trivia Night (2)

Bike Rodeo

Benninghoven students may begin riding their bikes to school in the 3rd grade. This committee coordinates a bike rodeo for the 2nd grade bike rodeo in the spring. Event includes reviewing bike safety, rules of the road, helmet use, and bike inspections.

Bingo Night (3)

Coordinates and plans this free event. Time frame: typically held in January.

Book Fair - Fall (2)

Organizes all aspects of our annual fall book fair.

Book Fair - Spring (2)

Organizes all aspects of our annual spring book fair.

Carnival (2)

Organizes the annual carnival, including inflatables, games, food, and redemption prizes.

Citizenship Program

Organizes the essay/poetry contest for 5th and 6th grades, due in October. Winning entries at school level are forwarded to SMAC for district judging and possibly state and national competition.

Dodgeball Tournament (3)

Organizes the dodge ball tournament fundraiser.

Eats & Treats

Establishes Benninghoven Dinner Night at a local restaurant where owners volunteer to participate by contributing with corresponding fundraising dollars.

Fall Family Fun Night (2)

Coordinates and plans this free event. Time frame: fall.

Fall Fundraiser (Butter Braids)

Coordinates the fall fundraiser

Fall & Spring Picture Days

Coordinates school pictures in fall.

Field Day

Works with PE teacher to schedule volunteers for this all school event. Time frame: May.

Grandparents' Day

Schedules volunteers to help during 3rd grade Grandparents luncheon. Time frame: September.

Great Kindness Challenge (2)

Coordinates Great Kindness Challenge week activities.

Head Room Parents Coordinator (2)

Acts as liaison between teachers, parents,and PTA throughout the year. Creates a master list of room parents and helpers in August.

Kansas Day

Committee Chairs 2017-2018 Organizes Kansas related activities during the school day to celebrate Kansas’ birthday in January.

Legislation

Keeps PTA apprised of legislative issues and developments that effect public education.

Project Preschool

Works with principal and SMAC to bring preschoolers and their parents into the school through Sneak-a-Peek in four PTA sponsored events each year. Greets new kindergartners and parents on first day of school.

Reflections

Organizes an arts recognition program, based on a yearly theme, for all grades. Due mid-October. Winning entries at school level are forwarded to SMAC for district judging and possible state and national competition.

Rewards Programs

Collects Box Tops, Coke Rewards, Campbell labels and other reward items, prepares paperwork and mails for redemption multiple times throughout the school year. Funds go directly to school.

Science Enrichment

Coordinates Science Enrichment Program.

Sixth Grade Celebration (2)

Coordinates 6th grade parents in planning a send off ceremony/celebration at the end of the year for 6th grade students.

Skating Parties

Organizes volunteers for five all school parties (odd months).

Spirit Wear

Coordinates the design, sale, and distribution of Benninghoven spirit wear.

Spring Family Fun Night

Organizes Spring Family Fun Night

Staff Appreciation (2)

Plans a fall luncheon on the first day of parent/teacher conferences. Organizes other appreciation activities throughout the year. Coordinates the activities for Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

Summer Reading Program

Coordinates the summer reading and math program.

Veteran's Day (2)

Organizes Veteran's Day activities including grade-level projects and Veteran classroom visits.

Apex Fun Run

Coordinates with the Apex team on the 2-week program & fun fun.

WatchDOGS

Coordinates our Dads-in-school program.

Welcome Committee

Extends a welcome and gets info packet to families coming to Benninghoven mid-school year.

Yearbook

Plans yearbook and recruits team of volunteers to design and complete pages. Works closely with yearbook vendor, LifeTouch, to set book size and deadlines. Helps collect photos and information and uploads data to the publisher’s website.
