Please bring your own masks, or one will be provided along with a face sheild. The cupboard opens at 9am each Saturday for approximately one hour for our guests. Volunteers arrive between 8-8:30 am. Old first provids a pre-packaged bag with hygeine items, 1 pair of socks, 2 breakfeast bars, a beverage, and a hot breakfeast sandwich which guests grab on their way out of the building after they have chosen their clothes. Along with this, guests are also offered cofeee.
**Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and be at least 14 years of age.
You can contact our Outreach Coordinator at [email protected] with any questions or concerns about our safety measures.
Old First Team Leader - This volunteer opportunity is held by members of Old First who are trained and are the contact person on the designated day.
Breakfast Team: There will be no cooking on site. Any fresh/hot food must be prepared at home and brought to Old First the week of (usually on Thursday or Friday) or the day of (Saturday) between 8-8:30am. As of now, we are asking people who are intersted in preparing food to make 35-40 breakfeast sandwiches. We also ask that you do not include pork/bacon on these.
Other Volunteers (8:30 am to 10 am) - Our clothing cupboard functions as a “free store,” offering as much dignity and choice as possible given the availability of donations from week to week. Our clothing distributors assist our guests with finding a new outfit. There are three tables spread apart in the social hall and a clothing volunteer stands behind each one in order to assist our guests. Guests are NOT allowed to touch the clothes themselves and we ask that they stand behind the blue masking tape laid out before them.
