Break Camps

Camp weeks at Epiphany School are active, engaging and fun. Whether students are learning how to cook or playing a new instrument, they will enjoy spending time with our school community over the long breaks. Our activities and themes are designed to keep students engaged and excited about learning, but there is also ample amounts of unstructured play time. 
 

Spring Break Camp, April 13-17, 2020

Spring Break Camp will be offered April 13-17, 2020.   Details and sign up will be provided after Mid-Winter Break and announced via the ES Weekly newsletter beforehand.

 

Summer Camp 2020

Join us at the fourth annual Epiphany School summer camp!   Summer camp combines sessions provided by our beloved faculty, fun engaging content from select reputable vendors and both fun recreational activities and field trips provided by our summer camp staff. 

Week 1 (July 6-10)

Morning Sessions: Gardening with Kelly Kursteiner, Yoga with Seattle Kids Yoga
Vendor Sessions: LEGO Engineering with PlayWell TEKnologies

Gardening with Kelly Kursteiner
Each child will learn about eco-systems, pollinators, and the parts of a flower. We will help plant the school garden, pick and prepare fresh vegetables from Marilyn’s garden. As an end of the week culmination, every child will plant and take home their own vegetable container garden. This camp will be hands on, active, and educational.

Yoga with Seattle Kids Yoga
Based on the Radiant Child Yoga system of teaching yoga to children of all ages, students explore on their own. Classes combine storytelling, games, song, dance, postures, breath work, meditation and deep relaxation to create an experience that is comfortable and fun for everyone. Enhances many aspects of developmentt including Exploration, Acceptance, Quieting of the chattering mind, Awareness of our bodies and emotions, Self-management, Strength and flexibility

LEGO Engineering with PlayWell TEKnologies
Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO® parts! Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects, all with the guidance of an experienced instructor from Play-Well TEKnologies

Week 2 (July 13-17)

Camp Crafts with Jess Carley & Alison Holmes
Constructive, hands-on activities for students who love to draw, paint and craft projects.  Kids will select from a number of projects such as paper-mache animals, decoupage treasure boxes, recycled materials creations, and much more. Campers will develop their artistic talents while having fun and making projects to take home each day!

Parkour with Kong Academy
Movement is the ability to move fluidly through your environment from one place to another. In this camp, children will safely learn to progress through the basic parkour movements of jumping, vaulting, climbing, swinging, balancing, and rolling. The movements build strength, balance, and coordination. Your child will acquire the ability to engage with their environment while overcoming obstacles, both physically and mentally. Practicing parkour skills fosters creativity and boosts confidence. Accomplishing challenges that seemed impossible at one point will give your child the confidence to achieve whatever they set their mind to.


Week 3 (July 20-24)

Theater Camp with Kate Moen & Devyn Grendell
This week long camp will focus on multiple theatre genres (musical theatre, comedy, improv, Shakespeare) to teach techniques for skills such as confidence, teamwork, and voice and body awareness. These skills will be incorporated and used throughout the week to support learning a dance routine, short sonnets, improv games and more

Week 4 (July 27-31)

Outdoor Art Adventure with Barbara Buchman, Handlettering with Alison Holmes
Vendor Sessions: Capoeira with Fenix Capoeira

Outdoor Art Adventure I with Barbara Buchman 
Young artists will take advantage of summer weather to experience art outdoors. Watercolors, pastels, and pencils will record observations in nature and architecture throughout the neighborhood. Houses for real and imaginary creatures, and weaving will be crafted, and pottery will be painted.

Fenix Capoeira
Students will develop a sense of community as they are introduced to or deepen into Brazilian culture . They will learn the physical and musical aspects of the art of Capoeira. Students will participate in the “roda” (Capoeira circle) and peform “ginga” (the basic Capoeira swing), “esquiva” (dodges), kicks and acrobatics. Students will understand the importance of stretching, warm-ups and strengthening exercises physically and learn the stories and philosophy of Capoeira.

Week 5 (August 3-7)

Vendor Sessions: Sewing with Little Hands Creations

Soccer with Tina Larabee
GOOAAALLLL! Students will learn new skills and improve upon the ones they already have with Coach Larabee. Drills and activities are adjustable for age and experience levels. Shooting, passing and dribbling will all be covered in this fun and very active club. Even non-sports fans will enjoy the various mini-games and drills! In addition to physical skill development, a strong emphasis on best effort, sportsmanship, and fair play will be promoted throughout the camp.

Outdoor Art Adventure II with Barbara Buchman

Sewing with Little Hands Creations
Students are invited to learn a skill they will use for a lifetime and a hobby they will forever enjoy…sewing! No experience necessary for boys and girls to learn the basics and beyond. New students will learn machine safety and beginner sewing techniques, while the more experienced students can expand on skills they already have. The class will begin with a simple project, then students will advance at their own pace to more exciting and challenging projects throughout the session. This class is designed to teach children with both beginning and advanced skills. Projects, which are constantly rotating during the quarter, include backpacks, phone cases, clothing, accessories, bags, games, stuffed animal and more!


Week 6 (August 10-14)

Vendor Sessions: Tech Academy 
(Grades K-3: Intro to Video Game Design with Nintendo, Grades 3-5: Ultimate Game Coding)

Recreational Activities with Tina Larabee
The goal of the camp is to promote having fun with a blend of stimulating games and recreational activities.  Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals, rules, and strategies pertaining to:  kickball, frisbee skills, miniature golf, bowling, and a variety  of back yard games. The students will also be given the opportunity to focus on a game of their choice during their last session. A strong emphasis on best effort, sportsmanship, and fair play will be promoted throughout the camp.

Intro to Video Game Design Using Nintendo Characters with Tech Academy
New Class! Create YOUR OWN VIDEO GAME! Love video games? Students as young as five years old can create their own platform video games in this cool class! Choose your storyline with popular Nintendo characters as your stars; add challenges and levels of difficulty, then share your game by email or post it on the web to challenge family and friends. Now grades K-3 can practice math, logic, and programming and put their video game talents to work! The game will be in an animated Flash format, viewable in most internet browsers. Please send your child to camp with a USB drive

Ultimate Game Coding with Tech Academy
Imagine, create, and share by creating an interactive 2D video game using your FAVORITE characters. We scoured the Scratch website and assembled a collection of the most popular game sprites. Choose characters from Undertale, Pokémon, Nintendo, Minecraft, and even classic characters like Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Sonic, and Mario! We will learn to use Scratch and students will be walked through creating a working arcade-style game and picking which main character to use. Please send your child to camp with a USB drive

Registration & Fees

Summer camp registration will open at 6:00pm on Wednesday, February 5th.   The summer camp fee is $345 for one week of camp, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-3:30pm.   Extended Day is available on a daily basis Monday-Friday during camp for an additional fee of $18.75 per day utilized.  

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations are permitted before May 1 without charge.   Cancellations between May 1 and May 31 will be charged 50% of the summer camp fee for each week cancelled.  Cancellations June 1 onward will be charged 100% of the summer camp fee for each week cancelled.   Summer camp fees and charges will be billed in June of 2020.

Attendees

All Epiphany students rising into Kindergarten through Grade 6 (graduates) are welcome to attend! Epiphany School creates a diverse and enriching Summer Camp by inviting non-Epiphany students to register in the spring season for slots remaining.  All incoming students with the exception of the 2020-2021 Pre-Kindergarten class are also provided the opportunity to attend.
