St. Pius X Community Life Outreach
The Pathways Center for families is a shelter program of Greensboro Urban Ministry. It's purpose is to provide homeless families a safe, temporary environment to live while they are searching for other housing. The Pathways Center can shelter 16 families by providing each family an apartment with a private studio living area, but no kitchen. Families eat breakfast and lunch at the Greensboro Urban Ministry downtown location, their schools and their jobs. In the evening the families are encouraged, but not required to eat dinner in the dining area located in the Pathways Center at 3517 North Church Street, Greensboro, NC 27405.
St. Pius X volunteers provide dinner for residents (adults & children) once a month on the 3rd Friday of each month. Because residents are not required to eat dinner on location, the director estimates that we will serve between 20-25 residents on any given evening.
Volunteers provide a main course (NO PORK please), vegetable, bread, a small dessert as well as paper products and drinks (tea/lemonade). There is only a small prep area to set up the food buffet so the food should be purchased or made ahead of time and brought to the Pathways Center ready to serve.
Dinner is served between 6:15-6:30 so we ask you to arrive at Pathways no later than 6:00, and please plan to stay to serve the meal and clean up. We are typically finished serving and cleaning up by 7:15.
