Memorial Spaulding School

2019 International Festival Table and Performance Sign up

Our annual International Festival will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 21st. What an inspiring way to celebrate the diversity of our school and the world around us! This amazing event teaches all of us to embrace our differences and celebrate our common humanity.

To make this year the best year ever, we need YOUR help. Please sign up to get involved and represent your country/region/culture by

1. Hosting a Table

2. Performances

Please see specifics below and proceed to sign up for slots.  Please also note that this year we will be displaying the flag of any country/region/culture that has a table or presentation.  This will be done without any bias. In an attempt to keep things fair and peaceful, we will not be displaying any flags that are not participating.

Hosting a table: you are required to plan for and run a table throughout the entire event that represents your culture/country/region.  We encourage representative food, customs, research, books, artifacts, pictures, clothing etc. Please label anything that has contains nuts.  Please also provide napkins/utensils/plates for your items.

Performances: you can include dance, martial arts, music and other culturally significant arts. To ensure everyone has time to enjoy the performances and the tables, solo performances will be limited to 3 minutes, group performance to 5 minutes.  This commitment requires attendance at a dress rehearsal after school on the early release Thursday on March 21st. You will also need to provide a short description of your performance. It is a great way to share the art and culture of a specific region or country. Please consider sharing your talent with the school!

We are looking for a HUGE showing of countries this year. If you have a country that you are from, you have family from, or you just have an interest in, please come help us explore the amazing cultures around us! If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Rachel Laskin at [email protected]

Thank you,

The International Festival Committee
