On the fourth Wednesday of each month Hillside prepares and serves delicious and nutritious meals for the men, women and children who are currently residing at MUST Ministries Hope House (formerly Elizabeth Inn Homeless Shelter). Hope House is located at 1297 Bells Ferry Rd, Marietta. Meals are prepared in the kitchen at Hope House.
Volunteers will begin MEAL PREPARATION at 4pm and this will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. You will be cooking with a trained Kitchen Manager. MEAL SERVING begins at 6:30 when the residents enter the dining hall and usually takes about 1 hour. All cleanup is done by Community Service workers at Hope House. If you wish to cook AND serve, your total time commitment is 3 - 3.5 hours. If you prefer to only cook or only serve, please contact Erica Wells.
Also, several times throughout the year Breaking Bread Ministry may prepare meals in Hillside’s main kitchen near Celebration Hall for church functions.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Volunteers working in either Hillside kitchen or Hope House kitchen must be at least 16 years old for safety and health reasons. You will be required to wear hairnets and gloves (all provided), as well as close-toed shoes. Wearing short-sleeve shirts will make your experience more enjoyable. Volunteers should be able to stand on their feet for 2 hours.
