STREAM AND LAKE WATER QUALITY TESTING EVENT
Identifying what is living in the water is one of the best ways to determine a stream or lakes overall health. Get your feet wet, collecting water and lake bottom samples and using portable microscopes to look at micro-organisms such as amoebas and other water bugs to learn about the condition of the Great Seneca Creek and the Izaak Walton Leagues private lake. This event is FREE, open to IWLA members, guests and the public.
WHEN: Sunday, June 27 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (you do not have to stay the entire time)
WHERE: Meet at the Izaak Walton League Lake located at 12057 Clopper Rd. Germantown, MD 20874. The lake entrance is on Clopper Rd., between Waring Station Rd. and the entrance to Seneca State Park.
DETAILS: Prepare to get wet and dress accordingly! Shoes are required for entering the water. Bring dry shoes to change into! Water will be available!
SAFETY: Event is for students aged 10 and above. (No drop-off’s)
RAIN: If it rains within 48 hours we may not be going into the water. Please watch e-mail for updates, possible cancellations or rain dates. REGISTER below.
SSL Approved: Students in 6th grade or above can earn Student Service Learning hours for helping and participating!
Indicate SSL eligible when registering. Forms will be available at event.
