IWLA Jr. Youth Events
Stream and Lake quality testing Event
Sunday, July 14 from 1pm - 4 pm the IWLA Jr. Youth Conservation Group will hold a stream and lake sampling event. Identifying what is living in the water is one of the best ways to determine a stream or lakes overall health. You may possibly get your feet wet, collecting bugs, gathering water samples, lake-bottom samples to learn about the condition of the Great Seneca Creek and the Izaak Walton Leagues private lake.
WHEN: Sunday, July 14 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (you do not have to stay the entire time)
WHERE: Meet at the Izaak Walton League Lake Pavilion- 12057 Clopper Rd. Germantown, MD 20874. The entrance to the lake is off Clopper Rd., between Waring Station Rd. and the entrance to Seneca State Park. Look for yellow balloons at the gated entry.
DETAILS: If you plan to help collect samples, prepare to get wet and dress accordingly! Shoes are required. Bring bug spray, sun screen and dry shoes to change into after. Water will be available!
SAFETY: Children 10 – 12yrs old must have a parent present at event. (No drop-off’s) Any child under 10 years of age that intends to go into the water, must have a parent accompany them into the water.
RAIN: If it rains within 48 hours we may not be going into the water. Please watch e-mail for updates, possible cancelations or rain dates.

SSL Approved: Students 6th grade or above can earn Student Service Learning hours for helping and participating! Indicate SSL and grade when registering. Forms will be provided at event.
