CenterStage is pleased to announce open auditions for the musical We Will Rock You [email protected]
Directed by Jeanie Balch and Caleb Sharp
Choreography by Madeline Shaffer
"Is this the real life?"
Featuring chart-topping Queen songs including “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Killer Queen,” “We Will Rock You,” “Somebody To Love,” “We Are the Champions,” and many more, this adaptation of the West End show follows a bohemian band and two young rebels as they restore rock ‘n’ roll to “the iPlanet” in a post-apocalyptic world. WE WILL ROCK YOU [email protected] is a musical for our time: a fist-pumping, foot-stomping anthem to individuality. Are you ready to ROCK?!
All actors should be in grades 5th to 10th to be eligible to audition.
If cast, there is a fee to participate: $450 (includes show tshirt) per participant. Costumes fees of $35.00 and script fee of $10. Limited Scholarships based on financial need may be available.
Please prepare approximately 32 bars (around one minute) of a musical theatre song in the Pop/Rock style of the show (think Legally Blonde, 13: The Musical, School of Rock, etc.). For your audition, you will be able to sing along to the same backing track (no vocals) that you've been practicing with. The track can be either a piano recording you have made with a voice teacher/accompanist or a prerecorded track that you found elsewhere (YouTube has lots of karaoke versions of popular musical songs). We will be provide speakers, a computer and an auxiliary cord, so you can provide us with your track in any of the following ways:
1) Bring in a USB drive with an mp3 version of your track loaded onto it.
2) Email an mp3 version of the track to the directors (Caleb Sharp at [email protected] and Jeanie Balch at [email protected]).
3) Bring an aux compatible phone or ipod with the track on it (we will have the adaptor for newer iphone models)
4) Know an exact website or link with your track on it that you can direct us to (YouTube or SoundCloud, for example).
In case of potential technical difficulties, please have a second option available if possible.
NOTE: An accompanist will NOT be provided at the audition, so bringing sheet music only is not anoption. No a cappella auditions.
Actors may also be asked to read a short selection from the script.
All those auditioning are encouraged to provide a résumé of their onstage experience and training (or can list these on their audition form) and bring a headshot (if available – this does not have to be a professional photo). Digital photos of all actors will also be taken at the auditions.
A link to an online audition form will be emailed to you prior to your audition. The online form must be filled out before your audition. Any conflicts with the posted schedule must be discussed with the Directors and agreed to before casting can be confirmed.
Roles may be double cast.
