CenterStage Theatre Company announces open auditions for our Summer 2019 production of Thoroughly Modern Millie
Directed by Shelly Cox-Robie, Choreography by Izzy Robie
Performances July 20-28 at Dairy Arts Center in Boulder
All auditions are by appointment: May 10, 4:30pm – 7:00pm, May 11, 10am – 1pm at CenterStage Theatre Company’s studios at Koko Plaza (901 Front Street in Louisville, lower level). Dance auditions and callbacks will be held on May 12.
All actors must be aged 14-20 to be eligible to audition.
The winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie was the 2002 season's most awarded new show on Broadway! Based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film, Thoroughly Modern Millie takes you back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, when "moderns," including a flapper named Millie Dillmount, were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love. This high-spirited musical romp is a delightful valentine to the long-standing spirit of New York City and the people who seek to discover themselves there.
Prepare approximately 32 bars of a musical theater song in the style of the show that shows off your range for the primary audition. PLEASE DO NOT SING A SONG FROM THE SHOW. You have the option of either bringing an mp3 backing track to play from your phone or other device, or bring sheet music with your cut clearly marked; an accompanist will be provided. Please bring $10 cash to cover the cost of the accompanist. No A Capella auditions.
All those auditioning are encouraged to provide a résumé of their theater and dance experience and training. Bring a headshot (this does not have to be a professional photo). Digital photos of actors may be taken at the auditions. A link to an online AUDITION FORM will be emailed to you prior to your audition. This must be filled out before your audition. Any conflicts with the posted schedule must be discussed with the Director and agreed to before casting can be confirmed.
DANCE AUDITION AND CALLBACKS: All actors will be called back for a dance audition on Sunday, May 12 from 3pm – 4:30pm. Please wear dance shoes and clothes you can move in. A dance combo will be taught. CALLBACKS for individual roles will be held on May 12 from 4:30pm – 7:00pm. More detailed callback information and material will be available on the CenterStage website by 8pm on 5/11.
Rehearsals will begin the second week of June and in general will be held on Sundays (1-4), Mondays (5-9), Tuesdays (4-8) and Thursdays (4-8) . This schedule is subject to change - a detailed rehearsal schedule will be provided prior to the start of rehearsals. Rehearsals will be held at both Boulder High School and CSTC spaces in Koko Plaza. Which rehearsals will be held in which spaces will be determined by the director at a later date after auditions.
All roles will be double cast to the extent that we are able. We look forward to meeting you at auditions!
If cast, tuition fee of $430, costume fee of $75 and script fee of $20 apply. (A limited number of need-based scholarships are available)
If you have any questions, email the CSTC production manager, [email protected]
All Roles are open. CenterStage would love to have an extremely diverse cast, and actors of all types and ethnicities are encouraged to audition. This show has many featured roles which will showcase both experienced and new actors.
