2019-2020 Committee Chair Sign Ups

Morse Elementary PTO is already planning for the 2019-2020 Academic Year. Your help is needed to make next year exceptional!  

Morse Elementary PTO implements several projects, community events, fundraising events and programs each year to help provide Education Beyond Expectations at Morse Elementary.  In order to be successful, each of these activities needs parents, grandparents, and caregivers willing to share their time, talents and energy as organizers and volunteers!

Please consider volunteering as a Committee Chair or committee person for the 2019-2020 academic year at Morse Elementary!

Carnival/ Fun Run Chairs (2)

Plan the annual School Carnival and Fun Run, coordinating with outside vendors, selling tickets/wristbands, getting volunteers. The Carnival/Fun Run is in May. Approximate time commitment is 40 hours in the spring.

Skate Night Coordinator

Pick up flyers from Skate City and distribute to teacher mailboxes before the event. Attend Skate Night and run the raffle table. Approx commitment is less than 1 hour prep and ~2 hours night-of for each event. Dates are 10/1 & 3/26

Staff Appreciation Week (2)

Coordinate Staff Appreciation activities in May: schedule with outside service providers, coordinate schedule with Morse office staff, attend daily activities, schedule volunteers, etc. Approx time is 3 hours of prep, plus volunteering during the week.

Trivia Night/Auction Chairs (2)

Coordinate an adults-only fundraising event that includes trivia contest and silent/live auction. Responsibilities: secure donations; select a venue, theme, décor, food; recruit volunteers. Approx time commitment is 40 hours prep & 6 hours night of.

Volunteer Appreciation

Work with the PTO board to coordinate appreciation gifts or reception for parents who have volunteered all year. Approximate time commitment is 4 hours in the spring.

Coordinate Second Grade parent volunteers needed to serve cookies and drinks at Fall Back To School Night. Should be parent of a second grade student. Approximate time commitment is 4 hours in the fall.

Attend monthly BVEF meeting and report information to PTO board as needed. Approximate time commitment is 3 hours per month for meeting attendance.

Plan Scholastic Book Fair held in Nov: coordinate details with Scholastic Books, decorate library for Book Fair week, train volunteers (use of cash register & sale of books), work Book Fair. Approx time commitment-20 hours per volunteer; we recommend 2.

Coordinate the collection, tracking and submission of Box Tops and Hy-vee Receipts throughout the school year. Approximate time commitment is 6 hours monthly.

Plan the Family Supper to be held Wed or Thur evening in Nov to coincide with Book Fair. Responsibilities: work with outside food vendor, sell tickets, coordinate clean up with custodial staff. Approx time commitment is 2 hours of prep & 3 hours day-of.

 

Fifth Grade Celebrations (3)

Plan all activities related to the 5th Grade Celebrations (shirts, Valentine's Day, Farewell): coordinate with outside vendors, train volunteers in event duties and work the day of the event in May. Approx time commitment is 20 hours total over the year.

Grant Award Committee (5)

Meet 2-3 times to review staff grants and determine which will be awarded. This included Prize Squad duties! Must be a PTO member and have contributed to Take Stock. Approximate time commitment is 6 hours in the fall.

Meet in the spring to look over scholarship applications and assist in awarding 1 scholarship to a former Morse student going off to college. Approx. time commitment is 2-3 hours in April.

School Supply Liason

Coordinate all details of annual pre-packages school supply sale with vendors and parents. Approximate time commitment is 6 hours in August (sorting) and 2 hours in January/February (online forms).

Work with apparel vendor to develop & sell Spirit Wear in fall. Determine need for new class field trip shirts & order from vendor. Sort spirit wear & class field trip shirt orders by teacher/grade & deliver for distribution. Approx time is 16 hrs.

Staff Lunches

Coordinate catering and volunteers for 3 staff lunches: the week before school, fall conferences, spring conferences. Email teacher rep about food, send emails to parent volunteers, order food, and set up/ tear down. Approx time commitment is 4-5 hours.

Student Directory

Design student directory, work with Blue Valley print shop to print final directory and manage distribution of directories to student families. Approximate time commitment is a total of 10 hours during August and September.

Yearbook

Design yearbook layout using online software, coordinate class collage page development with classroom yearbook volunteers, train volunteers, work with yearbook company and printing services. Majority of time spent is Jan-Mar. Time commitment will vary.
