Phipps CTC Auditions
AUDITIONS FOR “THE BROTHERS GRIMM: OUT OF ORDER” AT THE PHIPPS
The Phipps Children’s Theater will hold auditions for “The Brothers Grimm: Out of Order,” a comedy by Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus, for area students in grades 7-10 on Monday and Tuesday, August 3 and 4, 4-7 p.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, August 6, 4-6 p.m.
Please complete the audition form, https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iXPS0i48LmP0mVhsqBNIgGOzzq4Q6xidfeingoG3rWQ/edit?usp=sharing, and bring it to the audition along with all conflicts and a headshot, if available.
When brothers Jake and Will Grimm cannot agree on a script, they end up in a fight -- pages are swapped and plots are intermingled -- it’s a complete mess. After all, Jake likes blood and guts, and Will likes fluffy bunnies and happy endings. Classic storybook characters become completely distorted and storylines are convoluted. With name-calling, finger pointing, and lots of “I quits,” the entire show collapses. But all is not lost. The producer rallies the troops and the cast dishes out the works of the Brothers Grimm in six minutes and 12 seconds. Although they don’t truly succeed, they actually find their own path to happily ever after.
Those auditioning will read from sides and perform some movement in a group. Actors should wear clothes and footwear that allow them to move freely. All auditioning will be required to wear a face mask. Detailed CDC COVID-19 guidelines will be available at auditions and the first rehearsal.
Rehearsals will be held every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 6-8 p.m., starting August 17. There will also be a few Saturday and/or Sunday afternoon rehearsals. There will be no rehearsals Friday-Monday, September 4-7.
There will be one performance, by invitation only, on Oct. 1. On Oct. 2, the River Channel, Hudson cable access, will livestream the performance with the recorded show available for viewing on the River Channel and The Phipps YouTube channel.
There will be a $195 performance fee for each cast member due at the first rehearsal/parents meeting. Scholarships are available, if needed.
