The third pillar of the mission of GCUMC is to serve. On the 4th Friday of every month, we reach out to those less fortunate than ourselves by serving a meal to the homeless at the Faith Mission Community Kitchen at 245 N. Grant Ave, Columbus. The church provides the food for the meal, which is prepared by the Faith Mission cooks, and Church volunteers then serve the meal to the residents and others that are in need of a meal.
All volunteers must be at least 14 years old. No open-toed shoes are permitted. Please wear long pants.
In January, March, May, July, September and November we serve only the women and families - 45-75 meals and are done by 6:30. In February, April, June, August, October and December we serve both the women/families and the men - 175 - 250 meals and are back around 8:30
If you are car-pooling, meet at in the parking lot between the church and the office at 4:30 p.m.. If you are meeting the group at Faith Mission, please arrive 5:00 p.m.
