CPO Food Drive Volunteers
Catholic Parish Outreach (CPO) is conducting a "Toddler Time/Baby" Drive at St. Catherine on February 2nd & 3rd. Please help us with the drive by volunteering to distribute grocery bags after Mass on Saturday, January 26th or Sunday, January 27th. In addition, please consider helping with the collection of donations at the CPO truck at the Masses on February 2nd and 3rd.
We will need 4 to 5 people for handing out the grocery bags after each Mass on January 26th and 27th. If you would be willing to help with bag distribution on that weekend, please sign up for the Mass time and Church exit you will cover. If multiple members of your family plan to help, please sign up each one individually. PLEASE SIGN UP BY JANUARY 19 SO THAT WE MIGHT KNOW IF WE HAVE SUFFICIENT HELP FOR THE WEEKEND.
We also need 2 or 3 people to attend the CPO truck before and after Masses on February 2nd and 3rd. If you are willing to help with collections on that weekend, please sign up for the specific Mass you choose. PLEASE SIGN UP BY JANUARY 26 SO THAT WE MIGHT KNOW IF WE HAVE SUFFICIENT HELP FOR THE WEEKEND.
We are always short of help for Sunday evening 5:30 PM Mass so if you are inclined to make a special effort to attend this Mass or come out for an extra trip to help with that Mass it would be very much appreciated.
Thank-you for the generosity of your time to help this outreach ministry that provides groceries to hundreds of families 6 days a week throughout the year. CPO also provides clothing for pre-school age children as well as Pampers, wipes, formula, baby food, and baby items such as strollers, high chairs, swings, and porta-cribs which this drive supports. CPO Parish Drives – Volunteer Instruction Guide
Weekend 1: Distributing Grocery Bags
Volunteers are to go to their assigned exits after Communion and before the final blessing. Bags will be placed at each of the Transept side exits, the Narthex rear side exit, and in the main Narthex. Volunteers hand out the bags asking parishioners to please help with the drive and to return them the following week.
Door assignments are designated as follows:
- Main Narthex (usually 2 volunteers)
- Narthex side exit (rear) on the East (school) side of the Church
- Transept (Mary/West) side exit
- Transept (Joseph/East) side exit
Weekend 2: Collecting Donations and Grocery Bags
Volunteers are to arrive at the CPO truck at least 30 minutes prior to Mass time and begin receiving donations. Volunteers are to man the truck immediately after Mass until most parishioners have departed.
The bags are received and loaded into the back of the CPO truck located in the Church parking lot. As some bags are heavy, at least one volunteer should be physically capable of stepping up and into the truck and handling heavy bags.
Cash and Check donations are to be placed in the cash box mounted on the wall of the truck just inside the lift door. CPO will provide all check donors with a letter for tax purposes. Receipts are available in the back of the truck for anyone who requests one.
NOTES: The CPO truck keys are kept in the Church Servers Sacristy (Mary side) on the counter inside the door. Volunteers will find the keys there to unlock the back of the truck. The volunteers will pad lock the back of the truck and return the keys to the Servers Sacristy after Mass. The volunteers should also lock the truck when not attending the truck during the Mass.
