Sunday 31 March 2019: Hypothermia Prevention Dinner (Embry Rucker Community Shelter)

Food Donations and Volunteers needed!

The last of our 4 Hypothermia-prevention dinners of the season is on Sunday March 31 for  120 guests at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, 11975 Bowman Towne Drive Reston, VA 20190 (next to the Reston Public Library). For this event we have partnered with our neighbors at Shoreshim, a Havurah in Reston founded more than 40 years ago. Thank you Jan Pohl for being the CBE lead.

Please sign up below to donate food items, which need to be dropped off by 3:30 pm Sunday at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter. If this is inconvenient, please contact Jan Pohl at [email protected] to make other arrangements. The food should already be cut up and cooked when dropped off, and will be kept warm or reheated at the shelter:

For those of you volunteering to serve dinner to our guests, please note the following:

  • Some parking is available at the shelter, but if full, the library parking lot is also available for use.
  • Please plan to arrive by 4:00 pm to set up for serving. Dinner will be served beginning at 4:45 pm. You should be finished by 7 pm.
  • Volunteers must be 18 years or older and will need to fill in a volunteer application form upon arrival.
  • Volunteers should bring and must wear head covering such as a baseball hat.

Thank you for helping the homeless in these cold and wintry times.
