Congregation Beth Emeth
In this Covid-19 crisis, the ones among us who have the least are those who have suffered the most. Shelters and Food Pantries have been overwhelmed. Kind folks have been delivering dinners to the Reston Embry Rucker family shelter and we, as Jewish faith communities, want to help out here as well.
So CBE, along with Shoreshim, will provide dinner on February 28 for about 50 guests at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, 11975 Bowman Towne Drive Reston, VA 20190 (next to the Reston Public Library). Our parner Shoreshim, a Havurah in Reston, was founded more than 40 years ago.
What are we providing?
We will be providing our signature dinner menu to include grilled chicken, roated potatoes and hot veggies. This should be a real treat since much of what the guests typically get these days are casseroles. Because of the Covid-19 pendemic we will provide food and drinks, but will NOT have volunteer servers. Please sign up ASAP below for items you can bring, so we will know that our commitments are covered.
How will the food be dropped off safely?
Please prepare your food and drink items in advance, and drop them off at 3:30 pm at the shelter. Dinner is served at 4:45 pm; hot items will be either kept warm or re-warmed at the shelter. Please take your food around to the back door (through the parking lot and to the right). You will see a canopy and table set up for no-contact food drop-off. Please knock on the kitchen door or call (703) 437-1975 to ensure that the food is brought in.
How can I donate money instead?
We understand that some congregants would prefer not to go out to buy food/drink donations but instead to make a monetary donation for the dinner. This can be easily done using this donation form. Any amount helps!
