Confronting the Refugee Crisis

Sign up here to attend the November 3, 2019

1:00pm in the Glick Chapel

On September 26 the US government announced that it will admit only 18,000 refugees in 2020, the lowest number in the 40-year history of the nation's resettlement program. The news was devastating for refugees and asylum seekers fleeing violence and poverty in their home countries and hoping to build a better life in the United States. For those who cherish our nation's historic role as a beacon of hope for "the huddled masses yearning to breathe free," it was also a call to action.

Join CRZ to welcome HIAS Chicago Director Jessica Schaffer as she shares insights on the refugee crisis, explores the unique role that American Jews are playing as advocates for refugee rights, and identifies concrete steps we can take (as individuals and together as a community) to support refugees at this difficult moment.
