THE GLEANING GARDEN SEASON
HAS ENDED FOR 2019. WE WILL RESUME
THE SPRING OF 2020.
The spring gleaning garden is planted and is ready for volunteers to assure that our produce is well tended so that local folks in need can receive the bounty! We are called on to care for the garden: watering, weeding, shooing the deer, harvesting the food... Please sign up for any days you can help. Check with Daisy Risser (704-843-1136), if you have any questions about what to do on a given day, or especially if it is your first time to volunteer in the garden this year. Harvesters, consider these options for donating the food: Loaves & Fishes donation site at Harrison United Methodist Church, 15008 Lancaster Hwy, Pineville, T & R 10 am-1 pm. (See other donation sites at loavesandfishes.org.) Common Cupboard at 116A Business Park Dr, Indian Trail, Sat 10-11:30 am (704-218-9060); Matthews Help Center at 119 N Ames St, Matthews, M-F, 9 am-4 pm, Sat 9 am-12:30 pm (704-847-8383).
It is better to bring food earlier in the week, as agencies tend to use it earlier, and fresh food may sit through a Sunday.
