Oakland Literacy Council and Delta Kappa Gamma
Four Hours of Fun and Service
Would you join us for a fun event that generates an important financial windfall for a cause you care about?
Every year, Oakland Literacy Council and Delta Kappa Gamma receive thousands of dollars in proceeds from metro Detroit’s biggest used book and media sale called Bookstock. This enormous, weeklong sale attracts shoppers from all over the state to Laurel Park Place in Livonia. The sale is 100 percent organized by volunteers, and 100 percent of the profits flow back to educational and literacy programs throughout metro Detroit.
In exchange for reaping a portion of Bookstock’s revenue, Oakland Literacy Council and Delta Kappa Gamma furnish volunteer workers for a portion of the sale. We are now signing up volunteers for four-hour shifts on Friday evening, April 12th and on Saturday, April 13th, 2019.
We need a lot of volunteers. We do our best to place volunteers where they will have the most fun. If you love cooking, for instance, you could help keep the cookbook section tidy while chatting up other foodies. If you enjoy children’s books, you could share your recommendations with parents and grandparents hoping to build a collection. Other volunteers can serve as cashiers or bag books.
Anyone (21 and older for cashiers; 14 or older for all other positions) is welcome to sign up. No experience is necessary. Please call on your friends, family members, and neighbors to participate! Reserve your preferred slot now!
Please call the OLC office for further details (248) 253-1617.
