Family Promise Hosting
Thornapple Covenant Church is partnering with Family Promise of Grand Rapids Interfaith Hospitality Network to help local homeless families by being a host church which means we will be hosting about five homeless families in our building three times per year for one week each time. Our next week to host will be September 11-18, 2022.
Here is how it will work in a nutshell. On Sunday, at the beginning of our hosting weeks, the beds and belongings of our guests will be brought to church so that we can get the area set up. Then about 5 homeless families will arrive at about 5pm each day to eat and sleep at Thornapple. They will then leave each morning at 7am to go to the Family Promise Day Center, except on Saturday when they may be with us all day. Some volunteers will be greeting people when they arrive, some will be feeding them dinner, and some will be staying overnight with them. Additionally we will need volunteers during the day on Saturday.
