Why: Your $50 registration fee will provide clean water for one person for life!
Did you know? Every day, nearly 835 children under the age of 5 die from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and unsafe hygiene practices. And on the average, people in the developing world walk 6 kilometers every day to get water. Globally, women and children spend 200 million hours collecting water each day, with many of them making multiple trips.
Please take a few hours out of your morning, bring your family & friends, and join Women of Vision in Action on Saturday, May 4th, for the world’s largest 6K...helping to provide clean water to one new person every 10 seconds! This year’s Global 6K for Water participants can choose the full 6K (3.7 miles) or the traditional “water carrying” (1.5 miles) route and experience the community-friendly walk to the water source. People like us from all around the world are coming together on the same day to walk or run this World Vision Global event for the same cause: clean water! It’s a perfect opportunity to get moving, hang out with friends and family, AND change the world. Every step you take is one they won’t have to!
Once you have officially registered for the Global 6K and the Women of Vision in Action Team, you should receive in the mail a unique bib with the photo of a child benefiting from clean water because of your support! Those registering the morning of the event will receive their featured child bib soon afterward so please try to register by April 15th, if at all possible. 100% of your registration fee will be donated to World Vision's water, sanitation, and hygiene projects in Zambia, Africa.
We hope to double last year’s 40+ Action Team! And...don’t forget to bring a small bucket if you’re planning to carry water! Please contact Sandy Hiatt at [email protected] if you should have questions.
