Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Laurel
Emmanuel has established a Partnership with Little Flowers Education Development Center in Baltimore.
Little Flowers EDC has 10 infants, 120 children ages 2-5, and an after school /summer program for ages 6 to 14 that serves up to 80 children. They have 45 staff from the community and in the summer, they hire teenagers from the youth program. Quite an impact on the Sandtown community!
The director of Little Flowers, Crystal Flowers, spoke to Emmanuel in May 2015 and invited us into a relationship with the children there. Our church has collected balls, books, art supplies, and Girls Scouts made 12 quilts for the babies in the nursery. We visit the children to read books, sing songs, play, or hang out in their library.
There are so many ways to become part of this partnership, including volunteering at Little Flowers!
Volunteer for a Weekday Visit to Little Flowers:
Visits are scheduled twice a month, from 10 to 11 AM. Emmanuel folks (3-4) carpool up to Baltimore, a 25 minute drive, and park in a secured lot. The volunteers meet at 9:15 am at Emmanuel Ministry Center and arrive back before noon.
